PGCon - PostgreSQL Conference for Users and Developers

Join us for the 17th annual PGCon!

PGCon is an annual conference for users and developers of PostgreSQL, a leading relational database, which just happens to be open source. PGCon is the place to meet, discuss, build relationships, learn valuable insights, and generally chat about the work you are doing with PostgreSQL. If you want to learn why so many people are moving to PostgreSQL, PGCon will be the place to find out why. Whether you are a casual user or you've been working with PostgreSQL for years, PGCon will have something for you.

When?

  • Tutorials: May 30 2023 (Tue & Fri)
  • Talks: May 31 - June 1 2023 (Wed-Thu)
  • Unconference: June 2 2023 (Fri)

The talks will be recorded and will be available later via YouTube. There will be no live streaming.

Continuing with tradition, the unconference is on the last day, with mostly hacking topics. The content of the unconference will be determined, on the day, by the attendees. In past years, we saw heavy attendance by both developers and users of PostgreSQL.

Location

  • University of Ottawa, in the DMS (Desmarais) building.
  • 55 Laurier Avenue East, Ottawa
  • See map for location

Social

There will be related events (of a social nature, for the most part) on the day before and the day after the conference.

HEADS UP: new visa conditions

Starting in 2016, new visa requirements were created. Please read about Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) on our travel page.

HEADS UP: masks & public health

Updated 2023-03-23 Nobody likes masks. PGCon is about community, however, and a community protects its weakest members.

We are requiring attendees wear well-fitting, certified N95, KN95, KF94, FFP2, or PM2.5 masks, without vents. Masks must be worn over the mouth and nose during and between all events.

You may briefly raise your mask to drink. While eating, attendees are asked to spread throughout the space and (weather permitting) outdoors. Replace your mask immediately afterwards.

Speakers are not required to wear masks during their session.

If we see your mouth or nose you will get a warning. A second offense will result in immediate expulsion from the conference. If you refuse to leave at our request, UOttawa security will remove you.

Other organizations and businesses around Ottawa might have their own mask policies. We expect our attendees to honor those policies as well. Non-compliance with mask policies can get you kicked out of a business, banned, or even arrested. PGCon has zero tolerance for not following our requirements or those of any of our host venues.

Masks will not be required at the social event, which is well ventilated and open to the outside.

We recommend you identify a mask that fits your face snugly and comfortably before arriving in Ottawa.
